MWAPE CHIBuYE

Mwape Chibuye is a youth activist with a background in education and youth development, with three years’ experience in youth work. A 2017 Mandela Washington fellow; and an AU youth volunteer for the African Union Youth Volunteer corps, waiting for deployment with Ashoka Africa in Lagos, Nigeria.

Since 2016, she has been a partner speaker with the US Embassy, as an alumnus for US youth exchange programs, where she has led various youth discussions in the American Centre and interacted with over 400 youths on leadership and youth development; and has assisted the Embassy in conducting assessments and interviews for US exchange programs, particularly the Mandela Washington Fellowship.

In 2018, she founded a youth led project ‘Stand Up’ that empowered young people through soccer and education for kids in Chainda, a low-income community. They had weekly soccer training sessions for kids between 6 and 14 years old.   And through partnership with other organizations Stand Up made efforts to help these kids stay in school.
